The Nagaland Government Hub supports Nagas and their democracy by bringing together information, experts, organizations, policy makers, and the public to facilitate greater engagement in federal, state, and local politics and more civil, positive discussions and collaborations on important issues and governance.

Nagaland is a landlocked state in the north-eastern region of India. It is bordered by the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh to the north, Assam to the west, Manipur to the south, and the Sagaing Region of Myanmar (Burma) to the east. Its capital city is Kohima and its largest city is the twin Chümoukedima–Dimapur. The state has an area of 16,579 square kilometres (6,401 sq mi) with a population of 1,980,602 as per the 2011 Census of India, making it one of the smallest states of India.

Nagaland University is a Central University established in the state of Nagaland by an Act of Parliament by the Government of India in 1989. It is headquartered at Lumami, Zünheboto District. Two other permanent campuses are located at Meriema (near Kohima) and Medziphema. Also there is a temporary campus in Dimapur where B. Tech courses are offered. Altogether 68 colleges are affiliated to the university with a total student population of around 24,000. Different Courses in 43 disciplines are offered at University and college levels in M.A, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, M.Ed, M.Sc (Agri.), B.Tech, B.Sc (Agri.), LL.B, B.Ed, B.Sc, B.A, B.Com, BBA, BCA, B.Sc (Nursing) and B.Voc.

Neiphiu Guolhoulie Rio is an Indian politician who serving as the 9th and current Chief Minister of Nagaland since 2018, previously 2008 to 2014 and from 2003 to 2008. He is the only Nagaland Chief Minister to have serving five consecutive terms, and is the longest serving Chief Minister of Nagaland. He was also a Member of Parliament from Nagaland in Lok Sabha from 2014 to 2018.

The Nagaland Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Nagaland. Nagaland became a state of India on 1 December 1963 and after election in January 1964, the first Nagaland Legislative Assembly was formed on 11 February 1964. In 1974, the strength of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly was increased to the present strength of 60 members.

There is no nominated member in the House, all the members are elected on the basis of adult franchise from single-seat constituencies. The normal tenure of the House is five years unless dissolved sooner. The seat of the Legislative Assembly is Kohima, the capital of Nagaland.

Nagaland is home to diverse indigenous ethnic groups, each with its distinct customs, traditions, and languages. The land has been inhabited by various indigenous ethnic groups for centuries. The earliest recorded history of Nagaland dates back to the 13th century. In the 19th century, British colonial forces began expanding their influence in Northeast India, including the Naga Hills. The British encountered fierce resistance from the Nagas who opposed foreign rule.

After India’s independence in 1947, the question of the Naga Hills’ political status emerged. The Naga National Council, led by Zapu Phizo, demanded an independent Naga nation and launched an armed struggle for an independent state. The Indian Government, however, maintained that Nagaland was an integral part of India. The conflict between the Naga National Council and the Indian Government resulted in a protracted insurgency that lasted for several decades limiting its economic development. It became the 16th state of India on 1 December 1963.
